Save the date: Stock & Land will be celebrating its centenary on July 4.

IN 2014, Stock & Land notches up 100 years - and we want to celebrate our century with our readers, advertisers and supporters.

We've got a big 12 months planned.

Each week we'll look back through the archives to a corresponding week in our history to see what was making headlines and how much agriculture and the paper have changed - or not.

We'll also be combing through the archives to chart the transformation of our key agricultural industries and tell the stories of some of the characters that have made a mark on the industry and the paper.

And circle July 4 on your calendar when Stock & Land will be celebrating its centenary at a gala dinner at the Melbourne Showgrounds.

To book tickets for the dinner click here. Get in quick, ticket sales close June 13.

We hope you enjoy what we have in store for our big 100th birthday year.

It was very interesting and nostalgic to read the paper from 1972 as that was the year that I and my late wife, the daughter of Frank Johnson visited Australia, for me the first time, and I read an article and saw one of his photos.July and part of aug Frank took me to a number of sales and shows both cattle and sheep.I am forever grateful to him for all that he did for us.He also introduced me to a number of s&l employees. It is an experience I will hold as long as I live.
